Bones: Baby Booth is here!

Warning: Some spoilers.

After what felt like a year, Bones finally returned with a new episode tonight. And with the new episode came a new cast member – Baby Booth has arrived!

But, it wouldn’t be Bones without a murder being solved first. This week’s victim was discovered when bone fragments and an eyeball popped up in a toilet that was about to be used by an already scared little girl. Her dad had spent a good five minutes convincing her she had nothing to be afraid of and then BOOM, there’s an eyeball. I don’t think that girl will ever fully be comfortable in the bathroom for the rest of her life.

It turned out the victim was a prisoner who was murdered and then thrown in a sewer. The team found more of his bones and learned that he was stabbed with a shiv made out of paper from a cookbook. Booth kept insisting that Bones go home and rest, but she was adamant about solving the murder – which she did.

Glee Recap: “Asian F”

Warning: Spoilers

Lots of people said this week’s episode was going to be the best one of the entire series, but I’m not so sure I agree with that. It was definitely better than last week’s, and there were tons of parts I loved, but I’m ready to call it the best ever.

Emma & Schue v. Her Parents

Schuester found Emma’s secret stash of wedding magazines, prompting a conversation about wanting to meet her parents. She insisted she didn’t want to rush things, so on the advice of Beiste he decided to invite them over for dinner himself. Turns out her parents are “ginger supremacists” – people who believe redheads should only “mate” with other redheads so they won’t become extinct (because apparently they’re their own species). Emma’s parents are the reason she has OCD, and their arrival caused her to revert back to her hardcore OCD ways. Emma and Schue shared a sweet moment near the end of the episode when he attempted to join her in a prayer to help her get better.

Glee: “I Am Unicorn”

Warning: Spoilers!

Ugh. I am SO over Quinn right now. Her pink hair and too-emo-to-care-about-anything attitude is really rubbing me the wrong way. This week Shelby – Rachel’s mom and the woman who adopted Quinn and Puck’s baby – returned to Lima. She’s heading up a show choir at the request of Sugar’s parents since she wasn’t accepted into Glee. Shelby told Quinn and Puck she wants them to be a part of Beth’s life, but Quinn needs to clean up her act first.

New Fall Show: New Girl

I was really looking forward to this new show and it definitely didn’t disappoint. It’s taken me awhile to warm up to Zooey Deschanel, but I’ve decided I like her. This show is actually really funny and I love the cast, even though I don’t know who any of them are (with the exception of Zooey, of course).

The show centers on Jess, who breaks up with her boyfriend after finding him with another woman. She ends up moving in with three guys – Coach, Nick and Schmidt. These guys are hilarious! Coach is a personal trainer who can’t talk to women, Nick was recently dumped as well and still pines for his ex, and Schmidt is a douchebag. He means well, but he says douchey things, which is why they have a “Douchebag Jar” that he has to put a dollar into pretty much every time he speaks.

Jess is super awkward – she sings to herself, watches Dirty Dancing over and over while sobbing hysterically and is really awful at talking to guys. After witnessing all of this, the guys regretted letting her move in, but by the end of the episode they were all besties. Jess had met a guy in a bar who stood her up, so her roommates met her at the restaurant so she wouldn’t be alone. They even started singing in an attempt to make her stop crying.

I’m really excited about this show; I think it’ll be a hit! I love all of the roommates and how they interact, and there were several moments in the episode that made me actually laugh out loud (full disclosure: that’s not hard to do). I definitely think you should check this show out if you haven’t already!

Season Premiere: Glee

Warning: Spoilers!

Gleeks rejoice! Our favorite glee club kids have returned! I don’t know about you, but I was happy to see Finn and Puck’s beautiful faces again 🙂 I must say, nothing particularly exciting happened in this episode, but we did get an update on what’s going on with everyone in glee club.

Rachel and Kurt, both seniors, had big plans to move to NYC after graduation and audition for Juilliard until Emma broke it to them that Juilliard doesn’t have a musical theater department. That’s ok though, she told them about another school with the best musical theater department that just so happened to be having a mixer in Dayton that week. The kids at the mixer were just as hardcore about singing as they are, which made them realize that just because they’re the crème de la crème of McKinley High School doesn’t mean they’re the best in the world. They decided they need more extracurriculars, so Kurt is running for senior class president and Rachel is pushing for the school to put on a production of West Side Story.

Not So Gleeful Over Glee This Week

After waiting 4 weeks for a new episode of Glee, I have to say I was highly disappointed with this week’s episode. As great as it was to see Cory Monteith and Mark Salling in all their beauty (although their screen time was very limited!), I was hoping for a little more excitement.

From the beginning, I found it hard to believe Will Schuster really thought the Glee club could raise enough money for their trip to NYC just buy selling salt water taffy. I also found it hard to believe that $5,000 was enough money to send the entire club to NYC, but I won’t dwell on that.

None of the songs really impressed me, either. Granted, Sunshine Corazon and Mercedes are both fantastic singers, I didn’t really get into either performance. And as great of a dancer as Mike Chang is, I was bored during his performance, too. Maybe I’m just partial to the pop songs that everyone dances to because these ballads were not cutting it for me.

I found the diva act Mercedes pulled during the episode to be more annoying than amusing. While it was funny that she wanted to dry her hands on fluffy puppies, I thought the concept of a high school glee club member who gets slushied on a regular basis being a diva was a bit far-fetched (not that this show really focuses on realism…).

Mercedes - with her new manager, Lauren - thankfully ended her reign as Diva

The only part of the show I particularly enjoyed was when Will helped Emma clean her grapes during lunch. I’m also glad Holly Holliday ended her relationship with Will and told him that Emma is in love with him. I’m a big Wemma supporter, so any step they take toward getting together is well-received by me!

Finally, I know a major theme of the show is that no one likes the Glee kids, but just once I’d really like it if they could catch a break! The students seem really into their performances at pep rallies, so why won’t anyone go to their shows?!

I’m hoping that next week’s 90-minute Lady Gaga episode is more exciting than this one. But, if not, at least we’ll get to see Cory and Mark for an extra 30 minutes 🙂
